Marianne Faithfull / Horses And High Heels - LP
SKU: NV822861
Recorded in New Orleans with a core of exceptional local musicians, the album contains eight covers and four new original songs co-written by Marianne. These feature virtuoso guitarist John Porter, a musician/producer friend highly noted for his work with Roxy Music, Eric Clapton, and The Smiths. The album also includes a song with lyrics written especially for her by Irish playwright Frank McGuiness (the evocative "The Old House"), two others with guitar parts performed by another old friend, Lou Reed, as well as guest appearances by Dr. John and Wayne Kramer of the MC5. All of this is elegantly produced by her long-time collaborator Hal Willner, the sonic alchemist behind EASY COME, EASY GO (2009). Two years have passed since then, and HORSES AND HIGH HEELS is brimming with creative life; it is the work of a woman in her sixties more inspired than ever.
