Recorded in New Orleans with a core of exceptional local musicians, the album features eight covers and four new original songs co-signed by Marianne. These benefit from the presence of virtuoso guitarist John Porter, a musician/producer friend who is well known for his work with Roxy Music, Eric Clapton and The Smiths. The album also welcomes a song whose lyrics were specially written for her by the Irish playwright Frank McGuiness (the evocative The Old House), two others where the guitar part is the work of another old friend, Lou Reed plus friendly contributions from MC5's Dr. John and Wayne Kramer. All this elegantly produced by his longtime collaborator Hal Willner, sound alchemist to whom we owe EASY COME, EASY GO (2009). Two years have passed and HORSES AND HIGH HEELS is bursting with creative life, the work of a woman in her sixties who is more inspired than ever.
