Details: Product Description The title cut's epic; every cut’s classic. Bonus tracks are the equally epic Little Johnny Jewel Parts 1 & 2; an untitled instrumental, and unreleased alternate versions of See No Evil; Friction, and Marquee Moon. Amazon.ca For Television's first album, Tom Verlaine chooses Andy Johns as co-producer. Johns recorded Goat's Head Soup by the Rolling Stones, a record despised by punks but Verlaine loves its sickly ballads. And, in fact, Television is not really into punk: the intro of "Marquee Moon" is very far from the Ramones or Johnny Thunders. It feels more like a stiff approximation of Thelonious Monk's clusters, then the track unfolds slowly, multiplying guitar solos from Verlaine and Richard Lloyd in Quicksilver Messenger Service fashion. And the other classics of this album: "Prove It", "Venus", "See No Evil" have this same quirkiness, this same somewhat distant elegance which made Television a band really apart. --Hubert Deshouse
