The first Indigenous artist of this folk genre, Matiu hails from the North Shore and is the antithesis of a glitzy performer. What he calls his "bipolar folk" blends into music about everyday life that seeks to understand human relationships, identity, and, ultimately, the meaning of life—both on the reserve and in the city.

This singer-songwriter from the Mani-Utenam community delivers his debut EP, chronicling what he sees out there, where what he likes to call the "Indian 2.0" resides.
