Production too polished for the most cheeky of Quebec singers, the album nevertheless conceals unusual textual landscapes. "Algiers" paints a panorama of North African youth, "Laura" skillfully tells a story on two levels and the hit "Spring-Summer" is a hymn to the delirium of the first days of good weather. If the arrangements of Paul Marcoux and the omnipresence of the keyboards and effects of programming do not do justice to the raw side of the songs of Liar, to their insolence, Leloup's unique patter and sense of phrasing save the day.
