Details: Down, down, down - deep into the earth we go, to see what it’s like in a salt mine! “Ranger” a shiny white jeep tootles along the dark roads, tunnelled through the salt, and visits “Driller” and “Bolt Driver”. They are weird and wonderful-looking machines that work where the salt gets blasted with dynamite. “Stubby” and “Loader” scoop up the big chunks of salt and dump them into the crusher. Suddenly, out of the gloom, an enormous scary contraption gives “Ranger” a fright! It’s only “Scaler,” the special machine with the long boom that scrapes the ceilings and walls of the mine. What a kidder! Miles of conveyor belts carry the salt back through the tunnels and to the special elevators that carry it up to the surface.
