In New York, Connie Doyle, a young homeless person, disoriented because her boyfriend Steve left her pregnant up to the eyes, confuses the subway with the train and borrows the one who goes to Boston. While checking the tickets, a young couple help her out. Hugh Winterbourne will introduce his wife Patricia, also pregnant, to his wealthy Boston family. But the train derails and, in the accident, the Winterbourne couple dies while Connie gives birth to a boy. At the hospital, the Administration identifies him as the young widow Patricia Winterbourne with her son. The Winterbourne family wishes to take in daughter-in-law and grandson. Grace, the "mother-in-law", takes a liking to Patricia-Connie while she and Bill, Hugh's twin brother, soon fall in love and get married.
