Details: Amazon.ca The zazou era populated by angular dandies is in full swing. With a business card titled From the song to the front page, on which Gainsbourg presents his anthropometric profile in black and white, he reappears in a striped suit, posing cigarette in hand in front of a bouquet of red roses and a revolver. After traveling the roads of France in the trailer of Jacques Brel and his "Ne me quitte pas", he recorded in 1959 an album entirely devoted to jazz, succinctly described by this cynical dandy in chosen terms. "Fingers snapping, I would say that it rages in front of jukeboxes, love for dad that doesn't interest me...". Boldly defended by Boris Vian, this infrequent singer poses his voice of charming provocateur on misogynistic texts "Farewell, creature!" with "Anthracite" humor. A few thundering brass instruments, a few frenzied percussions, "Mambo yum yum" and "Cha cha cha du loup", bring a little swing to his explosive jazz that perverts the wonderful song "L'Eau à la bouche", composed to accompany the movie of the same name. Masterful conclusion for this highly recommended second essay. --Sabrina Silamo
