Details: Amazon.ca After four fiction films and several documentaries, including fascinating portraits of filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami and Takeshi Kitano, French director Jean-Pierre Limosin succeeds with Novo a devilishly intriguing and sensual variation on the theme of memory. Amnesiac for six months, following a shock, Graham tries somehow to organize his life. But every ten minutes, everything for him is just an eternal restart. Until Irène, a trainee in the company where he found a job as a photocopier clerk, falls in love with him. If amnesiacs are popular cinema figures (Memento, Memory in the Skin, Pay…), Jean-Pierre Limosin nevertheless innovates by borrowing both from the stylistic experiments of the New Wave and from the mannerism of a De Palma. Son Novo still fascinates with an atmosphere as erotic as it is paranoid, which manages to preserve its mysteries with great skill. Despite sometimes overly written dialogues and sometimes obscure narration, the more than charming Edouardo Noriega (The Devil's Backbone, Open Your Eyes) and Anna Mouglalis (Thanks for Chocolate, New Life) play this loving couple with freshness. trying to build a story without a past. Seductive and original, Novo is one of those films that it would be a shame to forget! – Helen Faradji.
