Amazon.ca His political commitment rang all the more true to some ears because Jean Ferrat always added a real poetic sense to it, whether it came from Aragon or Garcia Lorca. This compilation, which features his early songs, is a reflection of an entire era, of an entire generation marked—sometimes even in its very flesh—by the horrors of the Second World War ("Nuit et Brouillard"), yet which nonetheless found a purpose for its existence in love ("Nous dormirons ensemble"). In the early sixties, Jean Ferrat was already of the same caliber as a Georges Brassens or a Jacques Brel. --Philippe Margotin
