Clemente, a local pawnbroker leading a fairly quiet life, becomes Sofia's hope to avoid her loneliness. Sofia is single and neighbor of Clemente. She is a devout follower of the Lord of Miracles, a very popular religious festival in October in Peru. One day, Clemente discovers a newborn baby on his doorstep. While Clemente goes in search of the child's mother, a prostitute, Sofia begins to take care of the baby in Clemente's house. It was then that Clemente would discover an emotional attachment to others that he had never felt before.
