Details: Adapted from a classic by Charles Dickens, this striking production is at once modern, captivating, dramatic, and sometimes even amusing, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the famous novel. Oliver's existence is marked by poverty and misfortune. His single mother dies shortly after giving birth to him. He is then placed in a workhouse managed by the infamous Mr. Bumble. Like all his companions in misery, he is mistreated and underfed there. And when he dares to ask for an extra ration of oatmeal, he is immediately cast out. He will therefore have to learn to fend for himself in life. Having run away to London, Oliver meets a young street urchin nicknamed the Artful Dodger and his gang. At the same time, he makes the acquaintance of the beautiful Nancy. For the first time in his life, he feels warmly welcomed. But he soon discovers that this kindness comes at a high price. Oliver sinks deeper and deeper into a dark hell. He is unaware that Mr. Brownlow, a generous man, is trying to find him. Meanwhile, other characters – Bill Sikes, a violent crook, Fagin, an old manipulator, and the mysterious Mr. Monks – are determined, each for their own reasons, to make his life difficult.
