Details: Amazon.ca After Insomnia and Death to Smoochy, One Hour Photo ( Photo Obsession) completes a trilogy of villainous roles for Robin Williams. Directed by young music video prodigy Mark Romanek, this first feature film in the form of psychological suspense was fortunately able to benefit from the charisma of the brilliant actor. Sy Parrish is employed in the instant development lab of a big-box store. For years, he has been developing photos of the Yorkin, a true embodiment of the fantasy of the ideal family, thanks to which he escapes from his sanitized white and blue universe. All it takes is a photo, however, for this balance to turn out to be much more fragile than it seemed. Mark Romanek had a lot of flair casting Robin Williams as an obsessive, platinum-blonde-haired psychopath. If the direction of photography, all in contrasts, is remarkable, it is above all thanks to the talent of the actor that the film works. Despite some very good scenes which provide intense surprise effects, One Hour Photo does not really manage to maintain the tension and suffers from a few hollow moments. The performance of Robin Williams, who truly carries the film on his shoulders, fortunately manages to erase these weaknesses. --Helen Faradji
