Details: Amazon.ca Oscar Peterson is undoubtedly one of the greatest pianists of all time, certainly he is one of the best known jazz exponents of the instrument. The bedrock of his playing is both his speed and his almost unique ability to pile note upon note. Peterson is a man who is never stingy with his notes, he is more than happy to use five, ten, 15 times the number, which another pianist might, but then he makes every single one count. This is a superb 60-minute collection of his music including tunes such as "Con Alma" and "Love You Madly", which Peterson made his own. Taken from his classic years on Verve (1950-1965) this is Peterson at his swinging best. Present also are cats of the standing (or rather swinging) of Milt Jackson, Ray Brown, Cannonball Adderley and Clark Terry. Although having such a huge catalog of classic recordings makes it difficult to whittle them down to a single album, this is as definitive as is possible.
