The influence of the Beatles is evident here, especially in "Au café Colibri", which makes the music of the Decamps brothers' band both light and melodic ("Autour du feu", "Atlantis"), although the riff of the title song is resolutely rock. With this excellent finale that is "The Hymn to Life", Par les fils de Mandrin moreover resembles the Harlequin Cemetery more than Émile Jacotey, at the same time as it highlights the guitaristic qualities of Jean-Michel Brézovar. --Philippe Margotin
