Details: Product Description Piché, Paul Amazon.ca Paul Piché went on a journey into the depths of himself, with only his words, his notebook, and his pen as luggage. The globetrotter has returned with a ninth album, Le Voyage, which retraces his quest for the absolute. Composed, contemplative, and humble, the artist no longer chants. "I write at my own height / I am becoming who I am / I see life at my own height," he sings softly, in his warm voice. While his nine songs certainly evoke his personal preoccupations, his discourse is nonetheless not devoid of social criticism. Although Paul Piché's poetic verve remains, the musical arrangements have evolved. His old traveling companions—Rick Haworth on guitars, Claude Castonguay on keyboards and composition, and Pierre Duchesne on bass and production—have nonetheless followed him on this journey where he borrows at times from Latin rhythms (the hit "Ne fais pas ça"), and at others from electronic sounds ("Mauvais Calcul"). By breaking with his traditional tunes after leaving the creative scene for six years, and by recording, furthermore, a song of nearly nine minutes (the title track), Paul Piché was taking a risk. Le Voyage, a gold record, ultimately proved to be a beautiful risk. --Marie-Eve Cousineau
