Details: Amazon.ca Essentially known to the French public for his acting skills and his antics as a humorist, Michel Boujenah embarked on directing Father and Son, a Franco-Quebec co-production. Leo is the father of three sons, two of whom are estranged. In an attempt to reconcile them, the old man simulates being dying in order to drag them by force to Quebec to accompany him on "his last journey" and admire the whales with him. There they will meet Mado and her daughter Hélène, whose own relationship will help the two brothers understand the importance of family ties. Imbued with good feelings, Père et fils can also count on the solid interpretations, despite the few impressions of histrionics, of Philippe Noiret, Charles Berling, Bruno Putzulu and Pascal Elbé, as well as their Quebec counterparts: Marie Tifo, Geneviève Brouillette and Pierre The beautiful. A dream cast, then, for this comedy that plays the emotional card to the fullest by focusing on filial relationships and who knows how to take advantage of the magnificent Quebec landscapes. Despite a somewhat anecdotal tone and a sometimes folkloric look at Quebec, the brand new director succeeds in his passage to the other side of the camera. –Helen Faradji
