Cow Floor

Release Date: 11-07-2006
Details: Amazon.ca Unclassifiable, irreverent and above all unpredictable, Fred Fortin never stops reinventing himself. Solo again after the stripping adventure of the group Gros Mené, in 1998, he returned to Le Plancher des vaches with a folk trash album with very down to earth, even primary texts. His songs talk about crabs ("Gaston"), erection ("Bandé dedans mon lit") or masturbation ("Chaouin"), but also about the time that flees and love "which finds it long". The tone oscillates between indifference and derision. Yet even these sloppy lyrics, rough guitars, and backyard beats bear the mark of uncommon talent and sensitivity. Less refined than Joseph Antoine Frédéric Fortin Perron, released in 1996, Le Plancher des vaches nevertheless testifies to a fierce independence of spirit and a desire to disturb that fans of Plume Latraverse or Mononc' Serge will understand without difficulty. Chaste ears abstain. --Alexandre Vigneault
