Details: Amazon.ca Lorie, 19, is undoubtedly the French Britney Spears. A fashion phenomenon? Perhaps. In any case, one thing is certain: Lorie has the stuff of greatness and all the primary qualities of a seasoned artist: the same energy, the same thirst for perfection in singing and choreography. She remains modest, however, in the face of the success of her first single ("Près de moi"), which sold nearly 600,000 copies. An album was therefore not too much to crown this performance. Her producers, songwriters, and composers Louis Élément and Johnny Williams gave her 11 tracks, one of which ("Entre vous deux") was co-written by the young singer. With a special thought for her father and manager, to whom she dedicates "L'Homme de ma vie," and her best friend with "Je serai." The future is secure. --Valérie Dupouy Product Description What can one say about the album of a singer we believed in from day one (Platine gave her her first cover in June)? That her voice is a ray, or even a beam, of sunshine, that her healthy suburban athlete's energy gives us an alternative image of the latter, that her mischievous kindness is another of her assets, that her teenage physique foreshadows a woman of exceptional beauty... That leaves the repertoire, and there, it is not (yet) all that great. Even if the two signatories of the tracks wrote the excellent "Près de moi" and the very effective "Je serai," the album is at a boy/girl band level. It is true that the duo of Louis Elément / Johnny Williams has already worked for Allan Théo ("Emmène-moi") and Larusso ("Entre nous"), but the ephemeral nature of these artists should make them think twice before condemning Lorie (beware of careers like Sandy Valentino's). Even if all the tracks sound good, thanks to very decent arrangements for a majority of machines and a few well-chosen musicians as well as renowned backing vocalists (Noam and the Costas), it would be a mistake to exploit more than three singles from this album. Lorie, like Britney Spears, must evolve quickly. She is more than capable of it. We simply wish her the wisdom not to make a second opus with only the limited team from this album. And everyone will be happy. May her producer understand that it is better to have several people signing hits than to have duds all alone. By not wanting to share the cake, one could lose Lorie...
