In June 1953 the world witnessed the greatest royal spectacle in British history - the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Millions lined the streets of London to catch a glimpse of the fairy-tale procession. Millions more watched at home. But the TV cameras were not alone. Amidst the pomp and the pageantry two young men were experimenting with a revolutionary new technology. For half a century the results of their experiment were lost to the world. To find any unseen film archive of the Queen in her Coronation week would be an amazing discovery. To find colour footage would be even more extraordinary. So when researchers at the British Film Institute opened some long forgotten film canisters, they were astonished to find footage of the Queen from 1953 in colour, and in 3D.
