Details: Product Description Cossette, Sylvain Amazon.ca With Rendez-vous, Sylvain Cossette takes a break from the grandiose pop that was omnipresent on his previous albums, Blanc and Humain, and treats himself to an acoustic trip featuring guitars, double bass, violin, and cello. His voice, known to be very powerful, becomes more nuanced here as he reinterprets three of his hits ("Tu reviendras", "Demain et le Lendemain", and "Rendez-vous") and makes several songs he particularly enjoys his own. In an intimate, almost cabaret-like atmosphere, he covers "Pas besoin de frapper" (Jacques Michel), "Si Dieu existe" (Claude Dubois), "La Maison sous les arbres" (Gilbert Bécaud), "Love of My Life" (Queen), and a few other classics from both the French and English-speaking repertoires. His interpretations of Brel's "La Quête" or the Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road" are less convincing, but Rendez-vous remains a warm and inviting record in the tradition of unplugged albums. In short, a must-have for fans of Sylvain Cossette and all those who enjoy being lulled during happy hour. -- Alexandre Vigneault
