His voice, which we know to be very powerful, becomes more nuanced here when he reinterprets three of his hits ("Tu reviens", "Demain et le Lendemain" and "Rendez-vous") and appropriates several songs that he particularly fond of. In a hushed, almost cabaret atmosphere, he takes up "Pas necessit de knock" (Jacques Michel), "If God exists" (Claude Dubois), "The House under the trees" (Gilbert Bécaud), "Love of My Life" ( Queen) and a few other classics from the French and Anglo-Saxon repertoires. His interpretations of "La Quête", by Brel, or "Long and Winding Road", by the Beatles, are less convincing, but Rendez-vous remains a warm and inviting record in the tradition of unplugged.
