• Resident Evil: Music from and Inspired by the Original Motion Picture

Format: Compilation

Release Date: 07-01-2009

Details: Amazon.ca We should have expected it: in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" style, following Capcom's Resident Evil video game series, we are now entitled to the film and, of course, the accompanying soundtrack... This very eclectic compilation features numerous artists from diverse backgrounds (Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Fear Factory, Method Man, among many others), several original tracks (Coal Chamber, Static-X, and Saliva), remixes (Fear Factory, Mudvayne), a Slipknot cover, and the film's score composed by Marilyn Manson. In short, it looks very interesting on paper, but unfortunately, the quality of the collection is very uneven. It ranges from the very good—"Resident Evil Main Theme" by Marilyn Manson or "Something Told Me" by Coal Chamber—to the less good—"Dig (Everything And Nothing Remix)" by Mudvayne. Furthermore, one might regret the high number of remixes compared to the number of original tracks (only 3). In the end, it's not Judgement Night, but it remains an honest compilation that stands out primarily for its diversity. --Fabrice Tayot Product Description Various Artists
