Details: Review It's in her voice and especially in the attitude she brings to this string of roadhouse tunes. -- The Gazette, May 17 2001 Amazon.ca After having lived through a quarter of a century of pop music, the indefatigable Nanette Workman returns to her roots with music that delves into the roots of her childhood. In another life, she was Johnny Halliday's backing vocalist, disco queen (“Lady Marmalade”), then rock muse in Luc Plamondon's operas. This time, Nanette, in her early fifties, returns to the dusty trails of her native Mississippi. This is a blues album that suits him marvelously. The soul and gospel offshoots perfectly marry the gravelly vocal chords of the singer, who is in splendid shape here. The result is all the more convincing as guitarist Steve Hill catalyzes the ardor of the lady with his subtle glissendos and syncopated chords. Here, nothing is usurped! -- Claude Cote
