Details: Let yourself be charmed by the innocence and warmth of this endearing character... In Bouctouche, New Brunswick, the Île-aux-Puces serves as the home of La Sagouine. And it is from her house located on this small natural island that she shares with us, as if addressing each one of us, her impressions, her memories, and her reflections. Portrayed by Viola Léger (recipient of the "Prix Hommage" for "La Sagouine" at the Luchon Festival, France) for over 30 years, this touching and colorful character tells of her country, her friends, and her life. It is through the monologues of this fisherman's daughter and wife that author Antonine Maillet, winner of the Prix Goncourt, evokes a slice of what life was once like for the working class in Acadia.
