Details: Samito is a Mozambican/Canadian singer and songwriter. A 2015-16 Radio-Canada World Music Revelation, Samito blends age-old melodies with rock-infused grooves in highly rhythmic compositions, with lyrics inspired by his African roots and his childhood in Maputo. It is nostalgia meeting political satire, set to heavy rhythms and lyrics written in Portuguese, English, French, and Tswa. With his very first album, slated for spring 2016 on the Costume Records label, the artist seeks to bring the groove into a new era, one where modern Afro sounds are at the heart of musical trends. Following his launch show on May 25 at the Ritz PDB in Montreal, Samito will travel the roads of Quebec in the summer of 2016 with a tour of nearly 30 dates.
