Scooby-Doo: The Movie (Widescreen) - DVD

Release Date: 11-10-2002
Details: Amazon.ca The scariest dog in animation history, Scooby-Doo, was one of the last animated heroes yet to appear on the big screen. It is now done with this feature film produced by Warner studios. The battles of egos got the better of the Mystery and Co. agency, for which Scooby-Doo and his gang worked. Sammy (Matthew Lillard), the stomach on legs, Daphné (Sarah Michelle Gellar), the pretty scatterbrained, Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), the beautiful kid full of himself and Vera (Linda Cardellini), the intelligent binoclarde , are now separated. When the owner of Spooky Island, believing his amusement park to be haunted, invites them individually to solve this mystery, friendship will quickly take over. Thanks to a pretty good personification of the heroes, Scooby-Doo stays true to a rather likeable comic book spirit. The dynamic rhythm, the bright colors and the “supernatural” climate make this entertainment quite digestible. On the other hand, the not always successful special effects (in particular the animation of the character of Scooby-Doo) and the formatting for preteen will make nostalgic eyebrows. Scooby-Doo is to be taken as is, in the first degree. --Helen Faradji
