Composed of pianist and composer Arnaud Spick-Saucier, double bassist Étienne Dextraze, drummer Philippe Lussier-Baillargeon, and saxophonist/flutist Alex Dodier, SHPIK offers bold, impressionistic music, drawing from the wellsprings of jazz and film music. Evoking wide-open spaces and introspection, moving from the immense to the infinitesimally small, their debut album is daring and offers a bewildering journey imbued with theatricality. With their inspired flights of fancy and effects pedals, SHPIK brings an ethereal touch to their music. Their first opus, Fabulation, was released in November 2016. In 2018, the group won the Grand Prix de Jazz TD at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
