Silent for most of the 1990s, Mantronik returned with a single in 1997 ("The Bass Machine Re-Tuned"), followed quickly by both the "Mad" single and this full-length, which contains the original versions of both singles. His return is welcome: behind raps by Traylude, vocals from Mr. Bush, and Carlos Alomar's guitar, Mantronik's beats are both instantly familiar and rewarding. Here are tracks that are both danceable and plenty of fun to listen to while sitting around--though it's tough to stay off your feet when this disc is playing. --Randy Silver
