Details: Product Description 1999 sophomore album from the internationally renowned chanteuse, featuring beautiful bossa nova style original compositions recorded with a small group of acoustic musicians. Produced by Pierre Barough who also helmed her critically acclaimed 1997 debut 'La Memoire Du Vent'. 12 tracks. Audiogram. Amazon.ca As its title suggests, Sources, Bïa's second album, is closer to the singer's original artistic influences than La Mémoire du vent, her previous CD. Drawing on her talents as a songwriter and composer, Bïa is more personal and introspective here, making a real return to her roots. The result is an album that is more Brazilian than its predecessor, and more cross-cultural too, where the warm rhythms of Rio are sometimes paired with lyrics in Spanish, Italian, French, or even English, as in her cover of The Beatles' "Golden Slumbers." To carry out her project, Bïa surrounded herself with gifted musicians, including Daniel Mille, Dominique Bouzon, and Marie-Jo Thério, with whom she performs a superb duet. Simple in design, Sources is a nuanced, subtle album, full of sensuality. --Nicolas Houle
