Details: Amazon.ca Ten years into her career and two albums ( Soul Propos and Oser) had not been enough to give Sylvie Paquette the place she deserved in the world of Quebec pop-folk. With Souvenirs de trois, that is now a done deal. The singer-songwriter has lost none of her intensity, but she has polished her lyrics, music, and arrangements thanks to the collaboration of high-caliber partners, including Rick Haworth on production. "Garde-moi," a duet with Daniel Bélanger, sets the tone: Souvenirs de trois will be serious, sensual, and emotionally charged. With an acoustic guitar slung over her shoulder, Sylvie Paquette sings uncompromising, simple, and beautiful lyrics—from Marc Chabot, Jean Fauque, Daniel Bélanger, or herself—about fleeting love ("Désolé," with J. Kyll of the group Muzion, "Le Cœur dans l’eau," "Souvenirs de trois"), the destiny that must be taken in hand ("Ma Nuit," "Dans tous les déserts"), or desire ("Offre-moi"). In short, this is the album of maturity for an artist who takes neither life nor music lightly. --Pascale Millot
