Sting / The Brand New Day Tour - DVD (Used)
Brand: Polygram Video
Format: NTSC
Release Date: 09-26-2000
Details: Amazon.ca We suspect that his record company could not afford to miss the first DVD of one of the stars of its catalog. We are not disappointed, at least as regards both the image quality, which is simply superb, and the sound recording, which is excellent in Dolby surround as in stereo. And we take a certain pleasure in listening to the old titles ("Englishman In New York", "Every Breath You Take", "Message In A Bottle"...) like the recent ones ("Desert Rose", with the appearance on stage of Cheb Mami or "Brand New Day" with Stevie Wonder's magic harmonica). The pleasure is however largely spoiled by the limited length of the concert (less than an hour and a half), the short duration (barely a quarter of an hour) of what is pompously announced as the "unpublished images on the backstage of the concert" and above all, the absence of subtitles in this documentary. Finally, the menu, if it is simple to use, does not show much inventiveness with its large colored buttons. In the end, the interactivity and the bonuses allowed by the DVD have been largely neglected, and that's a shame. --Pierre-Marie Dufour
