Details: THE French rock band with a 12-year career is back! After a 2-year hiatus, Superbus is back in the studio. Titled Sunset, this new album recorded between Paris and Los Angeles was produced by Billy Bush (Garbage's long-time sound engineer). Billy supported them, helping them evolve, not for the songwriting – Jenn and the gang don't need anyone for that – but for the sound, which is literally massive. In addition to the eclectic, knowledgeable rock nods that Superbus has been delighting us with since their debut, there are grunge guitars here, honky-tonk piano there, 80s keyboard layers, a surf six-string, Bangles-style harmonies, a vintage vocoder, and even a crackling solo by Richie Sambora – yes, the guy from Bon Jovi, who was working in the next-door studio on Sunset... The result? An album packed with pop-rock gems, prodigiously varied, with lyrics that are mature, modest, and sensitive.
