Author: Benson, George

Details: Amazon.ca Guitarist George Benson's playing has often been compared to that of Wes Montgomery or Tal Farlow: the same concern for a whirling left hand, a "cool" tone, and a quiet brilliance. These ingredients are found on That's Right, an album of serene hedonism that foreshadows the soul-jazzy career of this sometimes controversial guitarist, who is nevertheless always respected by his peers. A good compromise between his Verve period (the 60s) and his commercial wanderings of the Warner years. --Eric Frank
