Details: Returning home after an evening out, surgeon Richard Kimble discovers his wife mortally wounded. The assailant, a one-armed man, is still on the scene. Richard and he fight, and the man escapes. All suspicion falls on Kimble. The first few minutes of the film are gripping, and one is caught up in the whirlwind of action that follows, without a moment of respite. The director, Andrew Davis, manages to perfectly balance shock scenes and psychology here. In this respect, the parallel progress of the cop and the alleged criminal, up to their final encounter, is perfectly rendered and carried out brilliantly by the actors. Through his direction, Andrew Davis skillfully breaks away from the traditional, often too conventional mold of the American crime thriller, starting with the very first images. A great moment of tension for fans of the genre.--Louis Roux
