Details: Based on the legendary novel by pulp writer Jim Thompson, Michael Winterbottom's THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of a handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff's deputy named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). The film takes place in an idyllic West Texas town in the early 1950’s. As a lifelong resident, Ford has difficulty juggling his long-term girlfriend Amy (Kate Hudson), the prostitute named Joyce (Jessica Alba) that he mistakenly falls for, and the sociopathic tendencies inside him. In Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe nothing is ever what it seems. ----- Oscar nominee Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James) delivers the most stunning performance of his career in this crime drama in which he plays the controversial role of a sheriff in a small town where corpses are mysteriously piling up. The Killer Inside Me also stars Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four), Oscar nominee Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Emmy nominee Simon Baker (The Ring Two), and Bill Pullman (Independence Day). When he is tasked with escorting a talkative and unbearable prostitute out of town, the sheriff realizes it would be easier to just get rid of her. But to cover up the murder, he must eliminate prying witnesses, then more, and still more. Although the situation becomes increasingly complicated, he finds growing diabolical pleasure in committing these abominable atrocities, which are much more satisfying than a simple arrest. Inspired by the popular novel by writer Jim Thompson (The Grifters), The Killer Inside Me is "a solid suspense film in a class of its own" (Guardian UK) revealing the dangerous dark side of certain ruthless lawmen.
