Details: Amazon.ca Noted by non-specialists for his collaboration with the prolific Nathaniel Merriweather aka Dan The Automator aka Handsome Boy Modeling School aka Deltron 3030, etc. on the cult album Loveage, the ex-singer of Faith No More, the no less prolific Mike Patton, returns to pose his memorable crooner vocals. After Mr Bungle and other Fantomas, his new project entitled Tomahawk brings together a few aesthetes of the metal brotherhood: Duane Denison of Jesus Lizard, John Stanier of Helmet and Kevin Rutmanis, ex-Melvins. This super-group, delivered to the worst excesses for 3 weeks in a row in Nashville, Denison's place of residence, succeeded in giving a worthy follow-up to Faith No More - imperial and sulphurous collective follower of heavy crossover - purged of the characteristic keyboards of Roddy Bottom. In short, between sonic explosions mixed with 80s new-wave and a few poisonous riffs, Patton excels in his role as a baritone. Tomahaw inaugurates the avant-garde neo-metal section with panache. --Sabrina Silamo
