Details: "The first album from this Montreal (via Trois-Rivières) duo embodies everything that is wrong with Quebecois music. The obsession with the Beaudommagesque heritage and conviviality, the 'small-town life,' the 'cute couple,' the 'little emotions'... But here is the thing: Tricot Machine is damn good. Where Mes Aïeux or Les Cowboys Fringants make us want to move to Ontario, Catherine Leduc and Matthieu Beaumont stir a craving for winter, wool sweaters, Jehanne Benoît’s cooking, and old local films. From the shimmering, vaguely folk arrangements of 'L’Ours' to the killer keyboard line of 'Pas fait en chocolat,' through to the nervous piano of 'Un monstre sous le lit,' the duo-couple's ultra-light melodies, and Daniel Beaumont’s sensitive—yet never silly—lyrics, Tricot Machine possesses a fresh and dynamic take on 'Québécitude.' In a different register, they hit as hard as the Fortin/Méné/Langevin clan did 10 years ago. (...) Packed with future classics. (...) This machine is an important invention."
