Details: Amazon.ca Les Batinses put traditional Quebecois music through the grinder of the most varied genres: on Tripotages, they travel from progressive rock to jazz, passing through polka and other Eastern European music. What allows the sauce to thicken on this second album, which is imbued with maturity, is first and foremost the convivial nature of the endeavor. Versatile to the point of playing about four instruments each (and not the most common ones at that: djembe, bouzouki, didgeridoo, etc.), the six young musicians invite the listener to join the dance. Instrumental tracks of their own creation like "Tapez suédois!" or revamped standards like "Garçon à marier" turn into a real party! The good old reels and call-and-response songs ("Terre en vigne," with its sublime vocal arrangements) nevertheless remain at the heart of the celebration.
