Details: In Montreal, Jimmy Hunt is already well known for his legendary performances as a one-man band—which a few lonely souls still remember—and since then, for a few additional "Maladies d’amour." In 2006, this same Jimmy Hunt surrounded himself with members of Demon’s Claws and the Cockroaches to form the band Chocolat, releasing their first EP on Navet Confit’s label, Dry & Dead. Their blend of garage rock with a psychedelic yé-yé twist won over Radio-Canada, as well as MOJO magazine, The Gazette, Exclaim!, Longueur d’Ondes, and crowds at NXNE, FrancoFolies, FME, GAMIQ, and M for Montreal. Since then, everyone agrees that Chocolat is indeed better than sex, a subject which is, incidentally, depicted very vividly on the EP. With the 2008 release of "Piano élégant" on the Grosse Boîte label, Chocolat found their niche, which they describe as "elegant rock," writing about many aspects of life that charm bad girls and bad boys alike. "On the EP, there were twisted relationships with the opposite sex or love, but this one is more peaceful. It’s less mean-spirited, but there’s still an unsettling second degree to it," asserts Jimmy Hunt. The title of this first album represents its content quite well: sophisticated arrangements that keep their garage heritage not too far away, and that magnificent voice that needs no introduction, all supported by drums with soul. Immense critical success and sometimes questionable wanderings followed, so much so that at one point, the trail of the wandering band went cold. Rumor has it that in the fall of 2014, Chocolat was reincarnated, brought in a certain Emmanuel Ethier, started saying "TSS TSS" to anyone willing to listen, and went back out on the road.
