Author: Moustaki, Georges

Release Date: 01-07-2004

Details: Amazon.ca Under the title Ballades en balade, Universal has released several albums tracing Georges Moustaki's career. This first volume, Racines et errances, explains his artistic approach better than any long speech could. Namely, leading the audience to other places, to provide an escape from their daily lives, while remaining viscerally attached to his Egyptian—and, beyond that, Mediterranean—roots. Across twenty-two tracks, from "Alexandre" to "Le Métèque," from "La Seine, la cène et la scène" to "Donne du rhum à ton homme," Moustaki continues to seduce just as he did in the past, thanks to his fragile voice and the view he takes of the world, by turns romantic and realistic. --Philippe Margotin
