Véronic DiCaire / Véronic DiCaire - CD (Used)

Release Date: 2002-04-16
Details: Amazon.ca Building on her experience in the musicals Grease and Five Women Show, Véronic DiCaire dares a first album of pop songs with folk accents. For this first foray into the studio, the young performer from Ontario did not do things by halves: she offered herself the services of a team of highly talented songwriters (Nancy Dumais and Mario Peluso , among others) and has called on renowned musicians, such as guitarist Martin Bachand (Bruno Pelletier) and bassist Alain Caron. The result is a dozen warm songs, delivered with a lot of character and sometimes reminiscent of the work of Sheryl Crow. It's a pity that the abundance of bland tracks (half of the songs are ballads), sometimes interchangeable, harms the balance of the album. The fact remains that this first publication by Véronic DiCaire has some very good moments and heralds a fine career. --Nicolas Houle
