Details: Amazon.ca The will of this series is to bring together a set of songs that shatter the boundaries of soul, trip-hop, jazz and funk. And we can say that "Carte Blanche" succeeds brilliantly. Like its predecessor, this volume gives pride of place to lyrical and melodic flights on a background of aerial pads and supercharged breakbeats. While Sven Van Hees develops perfect imaginary soundtracks, the Scots from Universal Principles (on Soma) ingeniously recreate real instrumentals with their machines. For their part, the French of Oscar prove to the Anglo-Saxons that they know how to handle the warmest grooves with mastery. The Munich residents of Les Gammas, for their part, resuscitate the lyricism of jazz-funk of the 70s with a sampler used wisely. We really believe in it! The Mancunians of Rae & Christian play it trip-hop while Sidewinder, Cpen or Sunday Brunch want to be more vaporous while not forgetting the groove as the main engine of their compositions. Fred Everything, he brilliantly explores the mysteries of funk in the same way as Wai Wan for jazz. Again, a very nice delivery. --Pedro Summer
