Details: Product Description Piché, Paul Amazon.ca Paul Piché went on a journey into the depths of his own soul, with only his words, his notebook, and his pen as luggage. The wanderer returned with a ninth album, Le Voyage, which retraces his quest for the absolute. Composed, contemplative, and humble, the artist no longer chants. "I write at my height / I become who I am / I see life at my height," he sings softly, in his warm voice. His nine songs certainly evoke his personal concerns, but his discourse is nonetheless not devoid of social criticism. While Paul Piché’s poetic verve remains, the musical arrangements have evolved. His old road companions—Rick Haworth on guitars, Claude Castonguay on keyboards and composition, and Pierre Duchesne on bass and production—nevertheless followed him on this journey where he borrows at times from Latin rhythms (the hit "Ne fais pas ça"), and at others from electronic sounds ("Mauvais Calcul"). By breaking with his traditional tunes after having abandoned the creative scene for six years, and by recording, moreover, a song of nearly nine minutes (the title track), Paul Piché took a risk. Le Voyage, a gold record, was ultimately a beautiful risk. --Marie-Eve Cousineau
