The Acadian indie-folk-pop band Wanabi Farmeur, based in Cocagne, New Brunswick, presents its self-titled album, produced under the Acadian label "Le Grenier musique." Wanabi Farmeur is the project of artists Ginette Ahier and Mathieu D'Astous, who are accompanied on stage by musicians Denis Surette and Sébastien Michaud. This album is the band’s first.

In addition to Ginette Ahier, Mathieu D'Astous, Denis Surette, Sébastien Michaud, and Jon Anderson, other musicians who participated in the album include Danny Bourgeois, Jean Surette, and Kevin McIntyre. Providing backing vocals are Caroline Savoie, Véronique Bilodeau, Frédéric Butruille, and Mylène, Florence, and Louis D'Astous. Gabriel Robichaud and Léonard Forest each contributed lyrics to one song.

It was during the Festival des guitares du monde in Rouyn-Noranda in 2013 that the group Wanabi Farmeur met the famous Jon Anderson, known primarily as a member of the bands Jon & Vangelis and Yes. He offered to lend his voice to the song "Floating Shack," one of two English songs out of the eleven on the album.

Ginette Ahier and Mathieu D'Astous began their collaboration on creative and life projects in 2005. The complementarity of their voices and their chemistry in songwriting then became apparent to their peers and their audience. This musical connection led to tours in Quebec, the Maritimes, and Western Canada, numerous adventure trips crossing seas and mountains, multiple creative and renovation projects, as well as the birth of their two children (Florence and Louis). Multi-instrumentalists, enthusiasts of multiple projects, and haunted by incessant melodies in the right hemisphere of their brains, they gave birth to the Wanabi Farmeur project to continue clearing the fertile fields of the Acadian musical hinterland.

Ginette Ahier
Following studies in classical piano and music therapy at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Ginette Ahier, originally from Atholville in northern New Brunswick, arrived in 2003 as a breath of fresh air with a self-titled debut album produced by Eloi Painchaud, followed by a second in 2007, "Taxi Miki," produced by Mathieu D'Astous. Acclaimed by critics, she received the Sacré Talent award from Espace Musique as well as the People's Choice Award at Granby, in addition to being nominated for an ADISQ award, the Prix Félix-Leclerc, and the Prix Gémeaux. She has toured as an opening act for artists including Jane Birkin and Robert Charleboix, and was featured on the collective album "Toutes les filles" in 2010. She can be heard on various albums, including the children's album "Petit Chien de laine" on the La Montagne Secrète label. In 2008, Ginette launched her artisanal chocolate shop, Choco-Cocagne, which specializes in the creation of chocolate delicacies with eclectic flavors.

Mathieu D'Astous
A singer-songwriter native to Moncton, Mathieu D'Astous released his first album, "Ada," in 2002 and his second, "Les Méandres," in 2006. With a degree in geography/biology from the Université de Moncton and a Master of Marine Management from Dalhousie University, he divides his time between music, family, gardening, hockey, and his work as director of the cooperative La Récolte de Chez Nous. He produced the NFB film "La Dernière Batture," a short documentary about the precarious situation of clam fishing in the Kouchibouguac region. Among other honors, he was named a Sacré Talent by Espace Musique and won the Étoile Galaxie prize.
