Details: Amazon.ca Luc Besson's favorite composer, Éric Serra returns to work for Wasabi, where the famous French director takes on the unique role of producer. Although taking place in Japan, Éric Serra – helped by Julien Schultheis – avoids the trap of a “local color” soundtrack. Faithful to his symphonic-trip hop style, Éric Serra has written a completely offbeat score – idealized by the surrealist "Song To Miko" – with a funky tendency. Embellished with lines from the film, with Jean Reno in the lead, the soundtrack can be heard like a brilliant clowning composed by an author master of his irony. "Hub's Bank" or "Miko's Ashes" even merge the composer's grating humor with the rhythmic seriousness that we know him, this last axis being reminiscent of Léon. A hybrid album, yet very homogeneous, in phase with the relaxation of the film. Wasabi ! --Didier Lepretre
