They record long pieces with contrasting atmospheres (almost 10 minutes for "Washing Machine" and 19 minutes for the centerpiece of the disc "The Diamond Sea"). Influenced by the country sweetness of Tennessee, they cut a few soft and melodious tracks ("Unwind" and "Little Trouble Girl" with Kim Deal of the Breeders on backing vocals). and the atonal violence of "Junkie's Promise".
