Details: After a storm, fishermen do not find only fish in their nets. That is what happens to Jafaar, a poor fisherman who lives poorly in Gaza. And what he hauls in is really upsetting: imagine that, a pig! An unclean animal judged impure not only by the Faith of Islam but also by the Jewish religion. Determined to get rid of the animal, Jafaar tries desperately to sell it, first to a United Nations official, then to a Jewish colony where Yelena raises pigs not for their meat but for security reasons. Of course, going unnoticed in the company of a "forbidden" animal, among his Palestinian brothers, past Israeli soldiers and under the scrutiny of Islamic fundamentalists is no bed of roses and a series of misadventures await Jafaar.... ----- After a storm, Jafaar, a Palestinian fisherman from Gaza, accidentally hauls up a pig that has fallen from a cargo ship in his net. Determined to get rid of this impure animal, he nevertheless decides to try to sell it in order to improve his miserable existence. Poor Jafaar then embarks on an incredible and highly disreputable business... In this tragicomedy, all of the little people of Gaza, caught between their absolute misery on a daily basis, the constraints of the Israeli soldiers and the diktat of the bearded men in charge , is represented by this poor fisherman whose only concern is to survive from day to day and who, for that, is ready for anything. Jafaar, in a permanent mockery of himself, even in tragic moments, evolves in this story with biting humour... and will give us hope that if we can get along, despite all the differences, on the scale individual, we can ultimately agree on a collective scale.
