Guided mainly by their desires, this love trio will quickly see the troubled undersides of their freedom of facade come to light. Thanks to a nervous production and fresh and bewitching actors (Maribel Verdú, Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, who had already supported the excellent Amores Perros), this piquant and ambiguous, sometimes fierce Jules and Jim, is an excessive trip where the transition to adulthood is seen as a real initiation rite, which love and friendship cannot really resist. This bitter observation is all the same tempered by lively and strong scenes where all the recklessness and ardor of youth burst forth.
