Details: Amazon.ca DJ David Kosten has pulled off a major guest-star coup for his second album, Your Love Means Everything. REM's Michael Stipe stars alongside members of Coldplay, the Verve and the Flaming Lips. The album further shows the unspoken bonds between indie rock and techno as recently exposed by the likes of Moby and the Chemical Brothers. The former classical clarinetist has taken a huge step up from the techno chills and answerphone doodlings of his debut Closer, Colder. The instrumental eponymous opener blazes passion and warmth a la Aphex Twin but it's the addition of strong voices to the UK musician's vision that makes Your Love... a special piece of work. "Colossal Gray Sunshine" is a psychedelic techno work-out and "Where is My Boy?" holds a moving performance from Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin. This is a far more accessible album than Kosten's debut though the DJ doesn't abandon his classical roots. "Greenfields" is Michael Stipe tapping out a Viennese waltz in an Internet cafe. "Missing" mixes hip-hop beats with a symphonic sensibility. Both tracks clearly takes influence from the French avant-garde electronic movement Musique Concrete, geeky but clever mergers of digital and string traditions. Your Love... is an album that doesn't scream its uniqueness. The presence of so many well-known stars will bring it greater attention from their fans but this is innovative, subversive music that may only appeal to the few. --Jake Barnes Product Description Faultline (Aka David Costen) Has Collaborated with Artists Such as REM'S Michael Stipe, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and Nick Mccabe (Ex-the Verve) to Create an Album Half Vocal and Half Instrumental.
