The Beach Boys / 14 grands succès - CD

Coming from a family that has been making music for several generations, the Wilson brothers, Brian, Carl and Dennis, grew up in Hawthorne, California. Three elements make The Beach Boys' sound unique: their crystalline vocal harmonies, Chuck Berry's chords and binary rhythms, which form the backbone of all rock repertoire, and Phil Spector's sophisticated productions, whose famous Wall of Sound Brian would tirelessly try to reproduce.

The turning point came in 1961 when Dennis returned from a surfing session; Brian wrote "Surfin'" (October 1961). They then opted for the name The Beach Boys. On July 16, 1962, their father signed a record deal with Capitol Records on their behalf, as none of them were of legal age.

Brian's songs quickly became the anthems of American youth, who recognized themselves in this carefree and well-behaved quintet, projecting a healthy and sporty image, and celebrating pretty girls, surprise parties, and the joys of surfing.
