Details: Amazon.ca Daniel Lemire holds a special place in the Quebec humour scene. Discreet to the point of spacing out his shows, he has managed to make each of his appearances memorable moments. His characters, with their sometimes cutting retorts, such as Uncle George, a children's friend despite himself, Ronnie, the eternal hippie, or the Crooner, with dubious talent, are among the public's favorites. Even if it doesn't include the comedian's interesting monologues on current events, too frozen in time, 20 years of humour: 1982-2002 allows you to take the pulse of Lemire's career through some twenty sketches. The DVD edition includes five additional acts, a few commercials, as well as the artist's comments on his work. This is therefore a most relevant retrospective. The problem is that the post-production work is pitiful: no attempt was made to polish the quality of the archive images so that they form a coherent whole, the transitions between sketches are abrupt and the sound quality leaves something to be desired. If these technical shortcomings mar the pleasure of listening, we are nevertheless happy to reconnect with Lemire's characters and with this caustic humour that is his own. --Nicolas Houle
